Supporting our communities:
Cumbria flood appeal
Since the floods devastated Cumbria we have working hard to support and raise funds for the Cumbrian flood appeal. So far OMM has donated £5850.00 from kit sales to the charity and we hope it helps get everyone back on their feet.
OMM’s long history with the the Cumbrian fells and surrounding communities is close to the heart of all competitors, volunteers and staff. We’ve all spent many days and nights around the Lakeland Valley’s and surrounding hills. The OMM itself has been held in the area 9 times in its’ long history.
So, when storm Desmond hit last December we felt compelled to give back to the communities and help where we can.
Supporting the Grand Day Out 16th january
To raise funds for the Cumbria flood appeal OMM volunteer Tom Rumsey set up the county wide event, ‘A Grand Day Out’, a series of events across Cumbria including rides, walks and a trail run in Askham. We were at the trail run providing event support and a shop selling all OMM products with all money going to the charity. The event was excellently organised by Gaynor Prior and Charlie Sproson who put together the course and event centre in an unbelievable 4 weeks.
Over 430 runners from all over the country came together in an heartwarming show of community spirit. With the picturesque snowy hills as a backdrop, the event raised an incredible £6000.00 for the charity with a further £850.00 coming from sales of OMM kit.
400 OMM fleeces donated and counting…
Over 400 OMM Radian fleeces and 200 pairs of OMM Fusion gloves were made available to retailers across the county to either distribute to flood victims or to sell with all proceeds going to the charity. This, combined with the money raised at the Grand Day Out, meant we have dontated £5850 of kit sales towards the fund, a fantastic effort by everyone involved. Special thanks to Tom Rumsey and all volunteers at the Grand Day out and to all the retailers around Cumbria.
We hope this helps get everyone back on their feet.
