Ask the OMM team
What is the difference between the Fell, Trail and Ultra Shoes?

Fell prioritises soft-ground grip. Trail is the versatile option for mixed surfaces. Ultra adds cushioning for longer trail days. Compare the drop, stack and fit options above alongside the terrain you run most.

Which OMM shoe is best suited to mud and open fell?

The Fell Shoe is the starting point for soft ground, with 8–11mm lugs. The Trail Shoe uses shallower 4mm lugs for mixed trails. Ground conditions still matter: no outsole guarantees grip on every surface.

Do I need the Ultra Shoe to run an ultramarathon?

No. Choose for the terrain, fit and feel you prefer, as well as distance. The Ultra Shoe offers the most cushioning in this range, but the other models may suit your route and preferences better.

Are different widths available?

The Fell Shoe is listed in Regular. Trail and Ultra offer Regular and Regular+ options. Available width and colour combinations vary, so check the selection on the individual product page.

How should I choose my size?

Check the size chart on your chosen shoe’s product page and consider the socks you run in. If you are between sizes or unsure about width, ask the OMM team or try a pair with a stockist.

What do drop and stack height mean?

Drop is the difference in height between the heel and forefoot. Stack height describes the thickness underfoot. They help describe a shoe’s geometry, but neither number on its own tells you how a shoe will feel or fit.

What outsole technology do OMM shoes use?

All three models use Vibram MegaGrip, LiteBase and Traction Lug technologies. Their tread designs and platforms differ, so choose the complete shoe for your terrain rather than the rubber compound alone.

Where can I try on OMM footwear?

Use the OMM shoe stockist finder to locate a retailer. Contact them before travelling to check the model, colour, width and size you want to try.
