OMM Launches Ultra Shoe with Exclusive Retailer Pre-Release.

Original Mountain Marathon (OMM) today announces the launch of its new Ultra Shoe, designed for long-distance running with a focus on cushioning, durability and all-day comfort.

Ahead of its full online release, the Ultra Shoe will be available first through selected retail partners from Tuesday 5th May 2026, offering early access to runners through OMM’s specialist retail network.

The Ultra Shoe will be available at:
Castleberg Outdoors, Climbers Shop, Let’s Run, Pete Bland Sports, Northern Runner, Rat Race, Running Bath, Ultralight Outdoor Gear, Centurion Running and SportsShoes (from 12th May).

Built for extended time on feet, the Ultra Shoe delivers a stable, protective ride across varied terrain, helping runners stay moving efficiently as fatigue builds.

At 265g, with a 30mm stack height and 8mm drop, the Ultra Shoe is OMM’s most cushioned shoe to date. The increased midsole volume is designed to provide consistent comfort and efficient energy return over prolonged efforts.

Durability is at the core of its design. High-wear areas are strengthened with TPU to support repeated high-mileage use, while a soft and durable two-layer upper is designed to keep the foot comfortable over long days and distances.

OMM’s X-lacing ensures a locked-in, secure fit across long runs, spreading tension across the foot and reducing pressure points.

The outsole is engineered with three Vibram technologies:

  • Vibram MegaGrip for traction across varied terrain
  • Vibram Traction Lugs to increase surface contact and grip
  • Vibram Litebase to reduce overall sole weight.

The midsole consists of a thick wedge of lightweight EVA, providing maximum energy return and comfort underfoot.

Using both a Vibram outsole and midsole has enabled OMM to mould the sole into a wave shape to help improve stability and comfort by reducing internal compression and limiting any movement of the foot inside the shoe.

“With the Ultra Shoe, we set out to create a shoe that keeps working deep into longer efforts, where comfort and durability become ever more important to a runner” says Tom Williams, Managing Director at OMM.

The Ultra Shoe will also feature at the Lake District Running Festival (29–31 May), where runners will have the opportunity to test the shoe across a range of distances, including the new 24-hour Ultra event.

The full OMM online release will follow shortly.
