Core Fleece Mitt
£35.00
Fleece mitts designed to be worn solo or in conjunction with a waterproof shell overmitt. Using a new concept in active insulation, the OMM Core Range is made entirely from PrimaLoft® ACTIVE ultra-light insulating fabric. Built from a synthetic plume woven through a knitted mesh, Core offers the warmth of a fleece but at less-than half the weight. Paired with a shell, the Core is an incredibly effective insulator but thanks to near-total air permeability, the lightest breeze can take away that heat. This allows you to keep your Core layer on even when you have warmed up and you can thermoregulate by removing your shell. A true valley to summit piece. Core works wet or dry with incredible wicking properties to ensure you won’t stay wet for long.

PrimaLoft® ACTIVE Insulating Fabric weaves PrimaLoft® fibres onto a mesh, giving a super high volume and open structure. Fabrics insulate by trapping pockets of air that the wearer’s heat cannot pass through. Core structure is exceptional at creating these pockets. However the openness also allows for a light breeze to disturb these air pockets and remove the insulation effect. Core uses this to its advantage; put a light shell on over the top for the best possible warmth to weight layer and then when you get too hot adjust/remove only the shell and you can keep pushing hard to the summit.
A single mesh fabric holds the insulation plume in place, reducing the need for extra fabric layers and halving the weight and pack size.
At OMM we always choose synthetic insulation over down to be sure that we can get warm even when everything is wet. We believe PrimaLoft® make the best synthetic insulation and so it is an easy choice for us. 125g/m2 PrimaLoft® ACTIVE uses 64% post-consumer recycled material, it is also bluesign and Oeke-Tex approved.

What Insulation Do We Use?
OMM use PrimaLoft® synthetic insulation as it is widely regarded as the best quality available; with insulating properties very close to that of down plus largely manufactured from post-consumer recycled product (PCR). Usually manufactured in a roll or sheet of ‘wadding’, think loft insulation but a lot nicer! From PrimaLoft® we mainly use their Gold Eco with Cross – Core Technology, their highest rated and most sustainable option plus the latest ACTIVE fabric in the Core Ranges, built from a synthetic plume woven through a knitted mesh, CORE offers the warmth of a fleece but with less than half the weight.
How do I care for my Insulation?
Just like owning a top end sports car, a piece of performance Insulation is only as good as how well you care for it. In the same way a sports car still needs oil changes and screen wash, you need to regularly maintain your OMM Clothing to keep it performing at its best. It is important to follow the Product Care Instructions and use the correct wash and/or proofer product as these can affect your clothing’s performance. The benefit of using a synthetic insulation is it is much more resilient when washing plus dries a lot quicker.
How much insulation do I need?
That depends how cold you expect to get or perhaps you know you always run a little hot and so don’t need so much. The amount of insulation a product has, generally the warmer it will be. The amount of insulation in synthetically insulated products is quoted as per square metre. When using PrimaLoft® Gold Eco, the lowest value we use is 40gsm, up to 233gsm in our warmest Mountain Raid Sleeping Bag. We also use PrimaLoft® Active which is a much more breathable option as iti does not require the layers of fabric either side of it to stabilise the insulation. Though not as warm aas traditional options, the breathability and next to skin comfort makes it a great option.
What's the fit like?
Most OMM Clothing tends towards the “fitted” end of things. Designed for performance use, the fabrics often work best when dead air is reduced whilst also reducing drag and bulk when moving quickly. We use three different fits in our clothing ranges; Contact Fit, Fitted & Regular Fit. Most of our Insulation uses our Regular Fit, with a little more room and a squarer cut. You’ll find a link to the Fit Guide on each product page. You also find a link to our Size Guide, a more in depth table that shows measurement ranges for each size. Insulation should fit comfortably over a First & Mid Layer and are designed to work well with our Outer Layers.

What's the sizing like?
You can find our Size Guide via the link on each product page, this includes measurement ranges for each size of hats & gloves. Our hats & gloves are unisex so it is often worth checking the size guide to ensure you get the right one. Some of our headwear is one size, this is because the stretch properties of the materials used allow it to cover a larger range.
Can I return it if it doesn't fit?
Yes! Our returns period is 14 days from receipt of the item. As long as the labels are attached, the clothing is unworn (except to try on) and the original packaging still intact (i.e. the clear poly bag it may have been wrapped in). Unwanted or unsuitable items are returned at your cost but exchanges are free to send back out. The returns address and details can be found on the packing slip included with your order. In case of a suspected warranty issue, follow the instructions on the packing slip or contact our support team: support@theomm.com
What materials do we use?
We use a mix of performance fabrics in our hats & gloves that are designed to wick sweat and dry quickly whilst also being lightweight and low bulk in order to meet the demands of the mountain runner. For this reason, we do not use any cotton, wool (including merino) or leather. Most of our clothing uses variants of Nylon and Polyester. We then also include stretch elements such as elastane and chemical treatments (DWR) for water repellancy where needed. We work closely with manufacturers such as PrimaLoft to ensure we use the highest quality materials to achieve the best performance for the weight.
Glove or Mitt?
Both! well, maybe its not that simple. It depends on your priorities whilst running. Do you need to use your phone or touchscreen device? In which case go glove with e-tip. Or is warmth and weather protection the priority, in which case go for the Core Mitt and pair it up with the Kamleika Overmitt to seal out the bad weather. This is the warmest option from our range but it is also possible to pair the Kamleika Overmitt with a pair of gloves for the best of both worlds. A mitt will always be warmer than equivalent gloves, since your fingers are all in there together sharing their warmth!
