LEANWEIGHT 135 g

The Women’s Bearing Long Sleeve Tee uses a 4-way stretch CoolPlus fabric, to create a technical tee that is high wicking and allows a full range of movement on the go with a women’s specific fit. The raglan sleeve and flatlock seams minimise rub points across the back and shoulders whilst Polygiene anti-bacterial and odour control create a technical long sleeve tee that cares for your skin even in high intensity activity and multi day racing.

HIGH WICKING 100% POLYESTER FABRIC

The Bearing Range uses a double layered Polyester fabric knitted to create a mesh with excellent wicking properties. Removing moisture from the skin is essential for comfort and safety when on the hill. Moisture is a great conductor of heat and our bodies sweat to cool and regulate our core temperature. Great while being active but at rest you want to keep that heat whilst you plan your next move; put up your tent or enjoy a cup of tea on the finish line. Dry skin also experiences less friction and so reduces rubbing benatha pack or waistbelt.

POLYGIENE ANTI-BACTERIAL ODOUR CONTROL

Swedish company Polygiene are leading in garment treatments that prevent the buildup of bacteria on clothing and skin. This benefits skin health by preventing surface infections and also removes unpleasant odours created by bacterial breakdown of sweat. Not a pleasant subject but we all sweat; this regulates temperature, lubricates the skin and washes oils and dirt out of our pores. Unfortunately, this also provides everything bacteria wants to multiply. Polygiene uses Silver ions (naturally occuring) to prevent the bacteria multiplying. This is a two-pronged attack interrupting the genetic programming of bacteria and also preventing them producing more cell surface which they need to divide in two.

RAGLAN SLEEVES

A slightly more expensive way of constructing a garment that allows for removal of the seam on the top of the shoulder that can rub under a backpack.

Is a First Layer the same as a Baselayer?

Yes & no. We don’t use the word baselayer as this is more accurately used to describe tighter fitting ‘skins’ or compression garments. Our First Layer pieces are designed to be the start of your layering but you may decide to wear a tighter ‘baselayer’ underneath. Our First Layers work best next to the skin and use fabrics designed to wick sweat and dry quickly whilst feeling soft against the skin and minimising rub points.

What's the fit like?

As discussed above, our First Layers are different to Baselayers in that we do not make them skin tight. Most of our First Layers use our Contact Fit (you can find an exact Size Guide on each product page, plus a guide to our Fit), the fabrics work best close to the skin but do not need to be ‘sprayed on’.

Can I wear these under a pack of vest?

Yes! All our products are designed to be used in conjunction with packs and vests, though of course the lighter weight products may not last as long as a heavier weight equivalent. We have moved seams  away from areas likely to rub such as the shoulders and use flatlock stitches to reduce bulk and friction. Bobbling of the fabric is a normal part of wear and tear and will not effect

How can I stop my First Layer smelling?

Wash it! You can find a full Product Care Guide here and at the bottom of the page. A number of our First Layers use Polygeine which is a long lasting treatment to the fibres that inhibits bacterial action. You can also use specific wash products designed for use on sports gear, that kills off bacteria without damaging or astringent detergents and high heats.
